Frequently asked questions
Short answers about outcomes.lol. The app's Learn page goes deeper, with a payout calculator and live examples.
Support will never ask for your seed phrase or private key. It will also never ask you to connect your wallet or sign anything to get help. Anyone who does is not us.
What is outcomes.lol?
outcomes.lol is an unofficial frontend for Hyperliquid outcome markets (HIP-4): simple Yes/No contracts on real-world questions, such as "Will BTC be above $80,000 at 06:00 UTC?" or "Who wins tonight's game?". It is not affiliated with Hyperliquid.
There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for or log in to. There are no analytics, ads or tracking.
Can I trade with real money?
Not yet. Trading is testnet-only for now: testnet uses free test USDC, so you can practise without risking money. Mainnet markets are view-only.
How do outcome markets work?
Every market has two sides, usually Yes and No (sports markets name the teams instead). When it settles, each winning share pays $1 and each losing share pays $0. So a price is a probability: if Yes costs 63¢, the market thinks Yes has about a 63% chance, and No costs 37¢.
- You open a position by buying Yes or No, and close it by selling the shares you hold at any time before settlement.
- You can't sell shares you don't have. To bet against Yes, buy No.
- There is no leverage and no liquidation. You pay the full price up front in USDC, and the most you can lose is what you paid.
- Orders must be worth at least 1 USDC. Selling everything you hold of a side is always allowed, even below that.
How do markets settle?
Each market's rules are written into its on-chain description: what is measured, the source and when. outcomes.lol shows them as "Market details" on every market page.
- Recurring markets are settled automatically by the protocol at expiry.
- Other markets are settled by the venue that listed them. The venue posts the result on-chain, either through an automated oracle or by working out the result and settling manually.
- Settlement usually happens within seconds of the result. It can take up to a week if the venue corrects an error.
- Your shares turn into USDC in your Hyperliquid balance, and there is nothing to claim. It shows up as a "Settlement" line in your trade history.
- When a market settles, all of its open orders are canceled automatically and the market leaves the list.
- Some markets settle part-way: if Yes settles to 25¢, each Yes share pays $0.25 and each No share $0.75.
- A touch market settles Yes as soon as the price touches the target, and No only if the deadline passes without a touch.
What are the fees?
Hyperliquid charges outcome fees only when you close a position: when you sell, or when a winning position settles. Buying pays no Hyperliquid fee, and a side that settles to $0 pays nothing.
- The rate is your Hyperliquid spot fee rate: at the base tier, 0.070% if your order trades immediately and 0.040% if it waited on the book. Winning positions pay the immediate rate at settlement. There are no maker rebates on outcomes.
- Some venues set a fee scale on the markets they list, which multiplies that rate: a scale of 1.0 doubles it. Other markets, including Hyperliquid's own recurring ones, have none.
- Apps that send orders to Hyperliquid can add a builder fee. It is a percentage of the order value, charged on buys and sells alike (not at settlement), capped by Hyperliquid at 1%, and only charged after you approve it once in your wallet.
- On testnet, outcomes.lol sets a builder fee of 0.1% of each order, paid in test USDC. No builder fee is set for mainnet, where trading is off.
The Learn page in the app has a fee breakdown for any order size.
Which wallets work?
On the website you connect a browser wallet, for example a wallet extension. MetaMask is the reference wallet. Other wallets are listed in the connect menu, and some work less well because Hyperliquid order signing needs a special network that not every wallet can add. The mobile apps connect to your wallet app over WalletConnect.
On the website, you sign every order and cancel in your wallet by default. In the mobile apps, orders go through 1-click trading, because wallets can't sign them over WalletConnect. outcomes.lol only asks the wallet for your address and for signatures. It never sees your seed phrase or private key.
What is 1-click trading?
An optional way to place orders without a wallet prompt each time. Your wallet signs once to approve a new key, created in your browser, as your Hyperliquid API wallet for 7 days. That key then signs your orders and cancels.
- It can't withdraw or transfer your funds.
- It is stored only in this browser, or on this device in the mobile apps, and is never sent anywhere.
- It is forgotten when you disable 1-click trading, switch address, or it expires.
Are there mobile apps?
Native Android and iPhone apps exist, but they are not in Google Play or the App Store yet. They offer optional push notifications. If you turn those on, this device's push token and the wallet addresses you add are stored on our notification server so it can send them, and turning notifications off deletes them. That server never places orders.
Why is a page slow, or why do I see a rate-limit error?
Your device talks to Hyperliquid directly, and Hyperliquid limits requests per IP address: a budget of 1200 weight per minute, where heavier requests cost more. Everything on your IP address shares that one budget.
- Several tabs add up. Each outcomes.lol tab makes its own requests, and they don't share them.
- Other Hyperliquid apps and sites on the same connection count too, as does a phone on the same Wi-Fi.
- An office network, a mobile carrier or a VPN can put you on one IP address with other people.
When Hyperliquid answers "too many requests", the app pauses its reads for a short while, usually under a minute, and may show that Hyperliquid is slow or partly unavailable and that prices may be stale. To clear it, close extra tabs, wait a minute, and try without a VPN.
The notice can also mean a real problem at Hyperliquid. The status page shows what our monitor sees.
The status page is green but the app doesn't work for me. Why?
The Hyperliquid checks run from AWS us-east-1, not from your connection. They show that Hyperliquid answers our monitor, with separate checks for mainnet and for testnet, where trading runs for now. Your network, a VPN, or the shared rate limit above can still cause trouble for you alone.
How do I get help?
Email support@outcomes.support. Say which app or page you used, what you expected and what happened.
Before you write, check the status page and the answers above. Don't share your seed phrase or private key with anyone, and be careful of anyone who messages you first offering support.
